The Blue Angels are a flight demonstration team of the United States Navy. They were formed in 1946 and are based at NAS Pensacola, Florida. The team consists of six demonstration pilots who fly the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. They perform aerobatic maneuvers at airshows and other events across the country. The Blue Angels' mission is to showcase the pride and professionalism of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. They perform approximately 35 shows per month, and are known for their precision flying and maneuvers such as the Diamond 360, the Fleet Fly-By, the Opposing Solo, the sneak pass and the famous Blue Angel Delta formation. The team also has a C-130 support aircraft called "Fat Albert" which is also used to perform a demonstration. The Blue Angels have been entertaining audiences for over 75 years and are considered one of the premier military flight demonstration teams in the world.
