You choose a set amount of time. It can be as short as 5-10 minutes, or as long as an hour. You can use your own timer, or use a code-command on the channel bots to set a time.
If you want others to join your sprint, try using the command @Sprinters – Do not ask for this role if mentions bother you. If the group grows, we’ll split the role into 2-3 time zones to reduce the amount of pings.
You can write with a big group or on your own as long as you write. When the timer starts, off you go!
Write as much as you can and write as fast as you can without compromising the quality of your work. Don’t look at your phone or check Facebook, just give the prose your undivided attention. Remember, we’re here to tell the stories we love. Don’t get too caught up in the competition. Enjoy writing! The competition comes second.
When the timer ends, the bot will ask for a word count. Report yours, and see how you measured up with the others.
Sprinting creates accountability by making the art of writing a little more social. Others rely on your participation to make the exercise effective.
Good Luck & Have Fun!
