Since the dawn of time, Angels and Demons have been locked in an eternal war for total dominance over all three planes: Heaven, Hell, and Limbo. For eons, both sides suffered innumerable losses. In a desperate attempt to slow the bloodshed, a tentative truce was made between Heaven and Hell. Because Heaven was the smallest plane and could not possibly hold all of the Angel population, the Demons would reside in Hell, the largest plane, while the Angels lived in Limbo. It is a shaky co-existence, and conflict still happens between the two races, but at least there hasn't been all-out war for quite some millennia.
Caught in between these two sides are the pure and innocent Cherubs. Over time they can manifest abilities more powerful than that of the other two races, so both sides work tirelessly to ensure the Cherub joins their side when they grow up. A Guardian must protect their Cherub from harm as well as the threat of corruption from a Tempter. The military forces of either side work to support these efforts, and also ensure order in their own territories.
In the background of all of this, the leaders of Heaven and Hell have yet to show their presence, delegating their will from the shadows to their direct subordinates: the 7 Pillars of Heaven and Hell. These elite forces, named the Cardinal Vices of Hell and the Divine Virtues of Heaven, execute the leaders' commands as they see fit. What could they be planning? What will the future hold?
